Well, frankly, we took a punt on barrel fermenting our first ever rosé. Thankfully, that paid off. But in true heretic style, we weren’t about to sit back and just repeat the same thing again, where’s the fun in that? We thought we’d make a Blowhorn on steroids, (figuratively, not literally). We used the same 500 litre puncheon (barrel) that we broke in with The Cut , our premium Chardonnay.  Back then, it was brand new- now it’s what we call ‘Second fill’ , meaning that the oak influence would be a little more than the Blowhorn. To shake things up even more, we macerated the grapes for a few extra hours to get a deeper hue and a little extra richness.

Why though? Well, as you may have realised, we always like trying something different. That’s not to say that we won’t ever make the Blowhorn style again, we bloody loved that, but we like to keep things interesting.

But the all important question is…How does it taste? Well, it’s richer, deeper, fuller-bodied with dark strawberry notes, a creamy vanilla hint and signature English freshness on the palate. If you like Bandol and rosé wines from that region, you’re in for a treat.

Pre-order now, likely to be shipped shortly after June 16th.

I admit to being more than a little disappointed when the note came out about Blowhorn selling out (I’ve got one bottle left which I’m clinging on to for as long as I can) as I absolutely love it! However, Cantillon raises the bar to a different level. I was lucky enough to get hold of 6 bottles of the early release and they’ve all gone! Testament, I think, to just how good this wine is and how it’s always the one that gets pulled out the rack first. Shared with friends and family during the recent glorious weather makes it pretty bloody perfect for me!

Adam! Yes, missing out on the Blowhorn is a bummer, though we do have a few special ones with our collab label and plenty left of the Cantillon too so come back as often as you like! Much love, G&J

I’ll try and give you a “proper” tasting note for this wine! Appearance: bright and clear, like translucent smoked salmon in colour, this has has good legs and is 12% abv. Nose: on the nose we have fresh strawberries, redcurrants, crushed red apples and a hint of lemon, with a medium plus intensity. Palate: strawberries are predominant with red fruits, red currant and apples, it explodes in your mouth like eating a lime Starburst, it gets your saliva going. Medium plus acidity, medium plus to high intensity, medium plus body, this wine is an absolute monster. I have to pinch myself, this wine was made in England, surely not, it’s too good. It is worth every penny the boys are charging for it and, and I’ll regret saying this, probably more! This is the best English wine I’ve ever tasted and I am looking forward to trying the other two from the range that I have bought, a total first.

Alan! A comprehensive, full throttle tasting note from north of the border! Really appreciate it, much love, G&J

As a huge Heretics fan I was very excited to hear about the latest release of Cantillon Rose, so I took advantage of the launch offer. This is another great wine, the only thing, shall I save it for special occasions, or just get stuck in, I think I just answered my own question.
    Well done again Heretics!

    • Gareth Maxwell

David! You did indeed take advantage of the pre-release launch offer, they are only available to existing customers as a little thank you, just FYI people..much love, G&J

A truly heretical rosé! The Blowhorn was good, but this is on another level (am I allowed to say that?). Tasted against Whispering Angel as some sort of benchmark (personally I hate the stuff), this a screaming demon in comparison. Bold, fruity and utterly quaffable. Still need to crack open the Chardonnay at some point later this summer…

    • Gareth Maxwell

Stu! a loyal heretic indeed! You mean you don’t like insipid mass produced rosé made by a huge luxury conglomerate? Well, haven’t you found the right home…Much love, G&J

  5. Paul (verified owner)

After the fabulous Blowhorn Rose (and the wonderful Chardonnay), I knew the Cantillon would be good and it lived up to my expectations – another serious, full-bodied rose, full of fruit and complexity and a different league to the pale Provence roses filling the supermarket shelves. I grabbed six and I’d suggest anyone else thinking about it should move fast before it all goes.

    • Gareth Maxwell

Paul! A true heretic having bought all three, much love, G&J

Wow!! After excitedly ordering a bottle of each wine after watching their tasting with Tom Gilbert I was blown away with the fantastic service and even more blown away by this wine! This is a really complex rose wine with so many layers of flavour! Truly delicious, maybe I should order more…… Thanks Heretics, your service is outstanding and only matched by the quality of your wines!!!

    • Gareth Maxwell

Simon! What a review, thanks very much for taking the time to write this for us, it means a lot. Much love, G&J

It’s three out of three for the Heretics as Cantillon follows up on their excellent English rose debut, Blowhorn. This one is weightier and yet still supremely drinkable. Good stuff.

    • Gareth Maxwell

John! The triple whammy! Glad you have enjoyed all of the wines, more to come. Thanks for the review, much love, G&J

  8. Adam (verified owner)

This wine is amazing, I didn’t think these guys could improve on the taste of their Blowhorn rose but this wine is delicious and even better. I got 6 bottles from the pre-order and they’re sadly all gone already. I will be buying more and I need to try the Chardonnay next. Keep it up guys you’re going from strength to strength, genuinely thank you, all your hard work is paying off.

    • Gareth Maxwell

Adam! Legend, we couldn’t have asked for a better review if we’d paid you, which we haven’t for clarity…much love, G&J

  9. Craig Hanlon (verified owner)

After watching their collaboration with Tom Gilbey I was persuaded to try them out. I must say I was impressed with this and the Blowhorn. Both excellent and good value to boot. I personally couldn’t say which was the better one Thoroughly recommend and will be buying more I am sure. 🥂

    • Gareth Maxwell

Craig! Double Rosé, double winner, much love, G&J

I managed to grab a few bottles on the pre launch offer and luckily it arrived just as the sun came out to play. Have been a huge fan of the Blowhorm and the Cantillon is another to add to the bucket list. I actually find this a more rewarding experience. A slightly more complex taste than Blowhorn which I find smoother and richer. My new favourite from The Heretics. Keep it up boys!

Dan! Our first review and it’s a banger! Thanks a lot for this and for being a great customer, much love, G&J
